Learning English through theatre
Learning English through drama and theatre is an exciting way for students to improve their understanding and communication of English. Using a blend of activities and exercises that complement the students English, learned at school, students can expect to expand their vocabulary, use grammar through different contexts and develop confident communication and presentation skills through English.
Each session will include a range of activities involving text, music, media and movement. Students begin to “feel” the language as they progress through exercises like character development or making short radio documentaries. As part of a creative learning environment, all activities are achieved through collaboration. Students work together on projects in the classroom and this is supported by the individual task set for students to do at home.
Understanding the world of English is an exciting journey. Students will be introduced to poets, authors, film-makers, scientists, musicians and artists etc. that champion the English language and beyond.
The aim of the lessons is to improve confidence in all aspects of communication while complimenting the English students are learning at school, in a way that students can progress comfortably. In this way, the classes are broken down into three groups
Group 1: For children ages 6-10yrs old.
For students just beginning to learn English. The focus on this group is to develop vocabulary, pronunciation, and ownership of the language. This group is also excellent for native English speaking students who wish to develop their communication skills and become more confident at speaking and presenting in any language.
Group 2: For children ages 10-13yrs old.
When students are comfortable with a basic command of English they can continue to expand their vocabulary, use the language in a variety of contexts and accomplish projects and presentations with the group. This group is also excellent for native English speaking students who wish to develop their communication skills and become more confident at speaking and presenting in any language.
Group 3: For teens 13 plus.
Accomplished English students who wish to polish their English language skills will achieve greater command and expression of the English language. Using a variety of text and media, students become fluent at working from one mode of Eglish to another (Journalism to Literature). While at the same time students will develop an excellent vocabulary, along with confidence at speaking and presenting in English. This group is also excellent for native English speaking students who wish to develop their communication skills and become more confident at speaking and presenting in any language.

“Children 10-13 years.” 2 hours Friday 16:30 – 18:30.
“Teens 13 and up.” 2.5 hours Saturday 9:00 – 11:30.
